What are your favorite April Fools Day tricks???

Tonight, I'll be freezing some bowls of Apple Jacks
and serving them for breakfast tomorrow. That should be fun!

A few years ago I did my favorite prank of all time to my neighbor
(whose lawn is precious to him, and who HATES dog poop).

I made some deep dark brown brownie mix & baked it till it was "moldable".
Then I shaped it into that shape he hates and put it back in the oven to finish baking.

It looked SO REAL, but tasted yummy!

He leaves for work every morning out his front door,
so I started a trail of poop starting on his front walkway,
down the yard, on the sidewalk & the grass, all the way to his car,
where a note was waiting...
"Happy April Fools Day! ~Carey"

I told his wife what I was doing ahead of time so she would know what was going on.
She told me later that I GOT HIM GOOD, and he was LIVID,
picking up every piece with plastic bags and cursing louder with every step
until he got all the way to his car and saw the note & knew he'd been pranked.

Later in the morning, their son was in the kitchen & saw the pile o' "poop"
and freaked out that it was sitting on the kitchen counter.
Then he REALLY freaked when his mom popped a piece in her mouth!!!

So far they haven't gotten me back yet.... Maybe this year...

Maybe I'll make some poop brownies for Mat & Rory, too!

The weekend was a lot of fun and VERY exhausting!
I’ve never seen Mat sit still for as long as he did when he was
laying on the couch tonight after we got home!

We’re going to rest a lot on Monday, since Mat’s still on Spring Break,
so we’re all ready for his team's first practice at 6pm!

This morning Mat, Rory, and I drove up to Carson for the David Backham Academy.

Mat is having a BLAST!

We will definitely be coming back during summer vacation,
and hopefully a bunch of Mat's teammates will be able to join us!

The day started with a welcome from the coaching staff (great people!),
and Mat got his kit & boots (uniform & cleats).

Then all the kids went out onto the pitch for drills and scrimmages.

I'm not sure if I'll bring my camera tomorrow or not.
Sometimes it's just fun to be a mom without a big bad camera!

We will DEFINITELY be watching the Galaxy/Rapids game in the hotel lobby/bar
tomorrow night! There's SURE to be a HUGE crowd of Galaxy fans -- fun!

PS: In case you're wondering, I was using my 70-200 lens with the 2x extender
to turn the lens into a 400mm. It really helped getting Mat's action from
across the soccer fields! Getting the 70-200 and adding that extender is a lot
cheaper than buying the big bad Canon 400mm lens. For what I do,
I can't really justify a 400mm lens purchase, although it sure would be fun!
But that lens is an expensive MONSTER! I prefer the 70-200 + extender.
It wouldn't do well at night baseball games, but for daylight sports, it's great!

This is just a quick announcement to let you know that I'll be away from the computer
till late Sunday night while I'm up in LA.

Mat's attending the David Beckham academy this weekend
(he's just a TAD BIT excited about it).



Rory & I will be hanging out in LA together and checking out Mat
at the Home Depot Center a few times, too.

I'll try to get to email as much as I can, but you may not hear back from
me till next week, depending on how much time I can get to do email on my phone.

After the craziness of Vegas, my friend, Ross, got to see me in REAL LIFE --
with sand on my flipflops on the beach!

It's a different world here in San Diego, that's for sure, and I was glad
that Ross & his wife, Leisa, were able to come down to San Diego for a few days
after WPPI and see what life is REALLY like.

After the MyFUNCamera workshop on Sunday, we hung out at Chipotle with Ross,
Leisa, my mom, my kids, and Eddie from Studio 512 (along with Eddie's lovely fiancee, Katie)

There was some INTENSE Nintendo DS action between Ross & Rory!

They were battling each other on Super Mario Bros, and it's clear who won.

On Monday, we had another laid back beach day on Coronado,
and I got to get some shots of Ross & Leisa in love on the beach.

Ross is now in Fresno (I know... Fresno??? ick) visiting Leisa's brother there.
