The end of summer soccer tournament season ... Aug 31st | filed in: Random Mutterings

This weekend was the last summer soccer tournament for Mat.
Next up: regular season games for Presidio League Soccer!

Soccer tournaments are family affairs, with multiple games every day,
all of the team families usually hang out together enjoying the summer.
Regular season is different. There's usually only one game per weekend,
so everyone shows up, the game happens, then everyone goes home.

It was bitter-sweet to experience the end of the summer tournament season today.
Bitter because the boys' last game was a total slaughter (that team should not have
been in the "lower" bracket! They won all of their games this weekend 8-0 7-0 and 10-0).
Sweet because the boys all had so much fun together, and we've got such a
GREAT group of parents and families on our team. The regular season will be fun for sure!

Here are some "artsy" shots I wanted to get for the end of the summer:

Mat got to play keeper because it was such a blow-out
(he'd never get to play keeper otherwise, but he loves to play there).

...and the last shot I took before the final wistle blew:

I hope you're all enjoying your end-of-summer weekend!

Super Savings thru Monday on a Really Cool Bag! Aug 29th | filed in: News

If you're on the Gina Alexander mailing list, you already got the email
telling you about a great sale they're having thru MONDAY.

If you're not on the mailing list, no worries!

One of my favorite Gina Alexander bags is the "My Everything" bag.
This bag is BIG and perfect for an afternoon out with the kids, a sleepover,
or (as I use it) all of the stuff you need to bring to a soccer game,
and THIS WEEKEND it's 25% off!

But the awesome savings doesn't end there,
because I can get you ANOTHER 10% off!

Use your Barefoot Memories images from your CD, or your own picture,
order a bag, and enter Consultant Code 5870286
when you check out, and you'll get another 10% off.

That's right! That extra code can be combined with other discounts!
Isn't that cool!?
So, if you ever see a great Gina Alexander sale email come through,
just know that you'll get ANOTHER 10% off on top of that!

Go to GinaAlexander.com, and there you can find the
My Everything Bag, and check out other really affordable bags
like the Emma and the Dana.
I love the shape of that Emma bag! I've ordered one myself, so I'll be sure to share
pics when it arrives in a few weeks!

If your favorite bag isn't on special, use that "consultant code" to get 10% off!

Happy Shopping, and have a great Labor Day weekend!!

F-Stop beyond interview is online! Aug 29th | filed in: News

I had a fun interview with Ron Dawson a while back,
talking about the BBQ Smackdown with Skip.

Ron has put the interview online, and he gave me the snazzy code
so I could put the interview here on my blog!

The interview delved into topics that I don't normally get to talk about when
I'm speaking or giving workshops, such as my faith and
"THE" exact moment in my life when I KNEW that I was meant to start Barefoot Memories.

So, here you go:

Remember the Monkey Boys? Aug 29th | filed in: Pic of the Week

The Photoshop work is done for the Monkey family I shared a few days ago.

I thought it would be fun to share some "after" images, since you saw what I got
out of the camera.

Here are the "Monkey Boys":

what I did:
-inside Camera Raw, I lowered the white balance temp and tint a bit
-I added a bit of contrast with "Oh Snap" from "Totally Rad" actions
-I darkened the trees in the background with "ying/yang" from Totally Rad
-I used an action from Kevin Kubota to create the web image with the black & white border

Here are a few more from the morning in the park:
Four little monkeys, playing in the park:

what I did:
-to get this "funky" look, I used my recent favorite, Kevin Kubota's X-process combo
I don't use this too often, because I like to keep skin tones, highlights, and shadows looking
normal and realistic. But sometimes I use it 1) just for something different
and 2) to enhance the emotion in an image,
like the happiness pouring out from these monkeys!

Here's the whole family (I have a feeling this may be on a Christmas card or two soon!)

what I did:
-I used the Totally Rad, Revenge action "Troy" for this antiquee look.

I love this one of dad & the kids:

what I did:
-I used "Hot Fudge" from Kevin Kubota to make this B&W

..one last image... I was giggling when I took this one:

Isn't that an awesome dad with a bottle in the back pocket?!

Enjoy!

A treat for my fellow iPhone users -- my new iPhone site is live! Aug 27th | filed in: News

A few months ago, I bought a special website tool to help me create a website just for iPhones.
Since the iPhone browser can't display Flash sites, the main portion of my site won't display
on iPhones, with is a bummer, dude!

I stayed up till the wee hours working on this site (remember my 1am fuzzy buddy?),
and it's done!

If you're on an iPhone, you can go to Barefoot-Memories.com, and you'll be automatically
redirected to the iPhone site. nifty, eh?

Enjoy, iPhoners!
