Yesterday I had my first "Headshot sessions."
I decided to schedule some sneaky sessions without announcing them on my blog
because I wanted to see how it would go.
Well, you can probably guess from the title of this post, that they went REALLY WELL!
These itty bitty little sessions are PERFECT for a mom or dad who just wants a great kid picture.
I spent just a few minutes with each child,
found some GREAT light, used my favorite portrait-in-the-park lens,
and created some really fun kid portraits!
This isn't a full-blown family session.
This isn't even a 25-minute mini.
This is a few minutes in the park where I create a few wonderful kid pictures
while my kids play on the grass nearby. And for only $50!
I've had a few moms ask me if they could come to get pictures for themselves or their hubbies.
One mom said, "I just want a great picture for my Facebook!"
What a good idea!
So, if you want one of these "Headshot sessions,"
(Email subscribers: the link won't work from the email. Go to the blog online and click the link there)
If you have more than one child, you can change the quantity when you pay.
PLEASE REMEMBER, though, that these are INDIVIDUAL PICTURES ONLY (no sibling/group shots).
Here's one of yesterday's shots:

How cute is she!?
I'm thinking these will go fast, so get your session as soon as you can!
Happy Friday!

Mother's Day afternoon brought GORGEOUS weather to San Diego,
and I met some awesome families in Balboa Park to create some special pictures.
A few months ago, I opened up a very small number of openings for Mini Platinum sessions
on Mother's Day.
The results were some very special pictures.
This cute little family has a mom who's very comfortable in front of the camera,
and it's rubbed off on the kids, too! They were such fun!
Here's the collage I sent them inviting the family to view their online gallery:
Another one of the families was an extra special treat,
because I got to hang out with a friend AND create great pictures.
Kelley is the co-manager of our sons' soccer team along with me.
So you can probably guess that we spend a lot of time together!
She brought her sons to the park that day for pictures with mom.
Cute dudes, yes?
And here's Kelley's collage:
Enjoy!
I've got a BUNCH of photos to share with you from the little cutie I met the very next day,
but I'm going to try to pace myself and not O.D. on posting images!
Have a great afternoon!

There are so many pictures I want to show you from photo sessions I've had recently!
Those blog posts will have to wait, though, because I'm burried in Photoshop work
getting those pictures done for all of the families.
While I work on those images, I wanted to let you know about a GREAT opportunity
for you to get individual pictures of your child!
You've probably realized, if you've read my blog for a while, that I'm definitely a SOCCER MOM.
Because I'm the manager of my son's team, I'm constantly on the lookout for great fundraisers.
Last week, while the kids and I were at the park one afternoon,
a mom from Mat & Rory's school came up to me and asked me how much I would charge
for some simple headshots of her daughter.
She couldn't afford a full session or even a MINI,
but her daughter REALLY wants to get headshots done
so she can submit them to agencies around town
and possibly try out as an extra for tv & film productions.
Her request got the wheels in my head turning.
To create what she wanted, I only needed a few minutes with my camera and some good light.
There I was at the park with awesome opportunities around me for great light,
and it wouldn't be hard at all to quickly create pictures of a single child.
So, I'm offering something I've never offered before,
and all of the funds go STRAIGHT to my son's soccer team
to help pay for tournaments, summer camps, registration, all that expensive club soccer stuff.
If you want some GREAT headshots of your child and you don't want to spend the money on a MINI,
this is your chance!!
Next Tuesday, May 19th at 4pm, I'll be at a park in East Chula Vista.
You can bring your child, and I'll create some great headshots for you.
You'll get the full-size digital files to use however you like.
(THINK FATHER'S DAY, MOMS!!!!)
I'll spend 5-15 minutes per child to create 5-10 professional yet natural images for you,
and you'll get them on CD in about a week.
My Mini Platinum session is usually $350+tax for a 25-minute session.
THIS SPECIAL IS ONLY $50!
I am only offering FOUR openings.
INDIVIDUALS ONLY (I will not create sibling or group images).

This afternoon before soccer practice, I decided to do a quick little test with Mat's teammate Chris.
I had pulled out my little point & shoot camera to take a picture of him for his soccer registration,
and here's what I got:

That's a typical point & shoot picture. It works for his registration papers,
but I know he could look so much better.
As he was on his way out to jump on the trampoline with Mat, I made him sit down in some good light
for about 30 seconds, and check out the results:

Chris is a handsome dude no matter what,
but I think you'll agree...
The good light, great equipment, and my photo know-how make a HUGE difference!
So, if you'd like to get some great headshots of your child for only $50
This is TUESDAY, MAY 19th, at 4pm.
ONLY FOUR SLOTS AVAILABLE!!!
The PayPal link will have you pay directly into our soccer team's account,
so you'll see that all of the proceeds are going to the team.
See you next Tuesday!

in time to order gifts for Mother's Day.
If it were up to me, this is one picture that I'd order framed for mom's desk or the wall:
Are those new teeth the cutest little things or what!?
Those are the two most important people in mom's life,
and I think a picture like that in a beautiful frame would be a tear-inducing Mother's Day gift.
Here's another one that would bring on tears & smiles:
That would be a great picture to get framed, too!
You may be wondering why I always tell you to get prints from Mpix instead of
going to a local place.
It's true, you're running out of time to get Mpix prints in time for Mother's Day,
and if you don't get your order in TODAY (Wednesday), you may have to resort to
the photo kiosk at a nearby store. But please try to avoid that if you can!
Mpix calibrates their machines multiple times per day.
The room that houses their printers is climate controlled so the temperature and humidity are always perfect.
The air is filtered so no dust and impurities get near the printers.
The technicians running the machines are constantly making sure the settings are ideal
and that the prints coming out of the machines match the digital files that are being printed.
All of that adds up to pro quality that you can't get down the street at the photo kiosk
where the printers are feet away from huge outside doors or where the tech-of-the-day
can tweak the color settings to suit his/her opinion of the best color settings on the printer.
I realize I'm sounding WAY too much like a commerical for Mpix, so I'd better stop.
But I really do care about your pictures, and getting them printed from the BEST lab will keep them looking great.
If I don't get a chance to post on my blog before Sunday, have a great Mother's Day!
Saturday is Princess Rory's SEVENTH birthday, and tomorrow is her BIG BIRTHDAY SURPRISE!
I'll be updating TWITTERall day, so if you want to see what the big surprise is,
follow me!
Have a great day!
