Do you have a camera-crazy Valentine? Feb 09th | filed in: Photography tips, What to wear

If you've got a Valentine who's a photo enthusiast,
you may be struggling with gift ideas for Valentine's Day.

There's still time to get a really cool gift!

Right now, there is one slot left for the myFUNcamera beginners' workshop on 2/21,
or you can go for a 2-hour private mentoring session for even more in-depth learning.

If you purchase before Friday at noon, I can send you a jpg certificate
that you can print and frame.
You'll be a Valentines Day hero!

Check out myFUNcamera.com.
While you're there, check out the new myFUNcamera blogsite!
I've redone myFUNcamera.com so it has a blog layout now.
When I have lessons, tips, suggestions, a good book, or any other photo-stuff to share,
I'll put it up there for you!

Enjoy,
~Carey

My Very First MacWorld Expo! Jan 01st | filed in: News, What to wear

We'll get home from LA on Sunday night then the kids are back to school on Monday!
I will begrudgingly venture to Laundry City on Monday because on Tuesday
I head up to San Francisco for MACWORLD EXPO!

I'll be in the Mpix booth talking to folks about Mpix's products and services.

Maybe I'll even run into my hero, Cali Lewis, of GeekBrief! A girl can dream, can't she?

Have you ever seen GeekBrief?! If you're into techee fun stuff, you've got to subscribe!
I don't mind that Jason has a secret crush on Cali. She's a cutie! And she likes Chipotle!
He tolerates my love of Jack Bauer, so we're even.

Happy New Year! KidFest New Years Party at the Schumacher House! Jan 01st | filed in: News, What to wear

The last 48 hours of 2008 were wonderful!

I got my website launched (hooray!), the hackers are at bay (hooray x2),
and I got my new 5DMkII back from Canon (hooray x2,000)!

I spent more money than I care to type at Vons on absolute JUNK (left-over Little Smokies anyone?)

We heated up the little pool ALL DAY so that it would be a cozy 95 degrees all night long.

Two 250-watt Halogen worklights were staked into the ground on the backyard hill,
so the kids could jump jump jump on the trampoline into the wee hours!

The Wii came downstairs to the family room so we could all jam on RockBand.
I'm best at the guitar.

And in a most unbelievable development,
Rory let Uncle Jeff pull out her loose front tooth!

I used my prodigal camera to grab some fun night shots at ISO 6400 -- yeah baby!

Mat and Diego played Mario Cart in between Rock Band sets:
(both pics SOOC at ISO 6400)

I plan on testing the 5Deux to the limit this weekend up in LA
at the David Beckham Academy! I want to try out the video and put together
some video/still montages from the team's fun trip up to the Home Depot Center!

Stay tuned for David Beckham & San Fran stuff over the next week!

The new and improved Barefoot Memories website is UP AND RUNNING! Dec 30th | filed in: News, What to wear

I am beyond excited!
For months I've been working with Nick from Spilled Milk Designs to design & build my new website.
This has been a LOT of work. Nick put in hundreds and hundreds of hours,
putting up with every picky request I threw at him and making my website
EXACTLY what I wanted!

YOU CAN SEE IT HERE!
The main Barefoot-Memories.com will take you there as well.
PHOTOGRAPHERS: If you want Nick to make a custom site for you,
you can get $250 off if you tell him I sent you!!

Check out the "artist" page for a fun little trip into my head.
Thanks to Dana for doing that Chipotle interview for me and
helping get those new headshots!!!

I'm now off to take my 2nd dose of Nyquil -- the first wasn't enough!
Then, a fun New Year's Eve is planned for tomorrow!
Jason & I bought some halogen worklights so we can LIGHT UP the trampoline
and let the kids jump into the late hours of the night -- something they've never been
allowed to do! They are as excited about that as I am about my website!

Then, on Friday, Mat and I are OFF TO THE HOME DEPOT CENTER in Carson!
Remember the photo contest where you helped me rack up votes for Mat's picture?!

Mat's entire team gets to go to the David Beckham Academy THIS WEEKEND!
WOO HOOOOO!
His photo wasn't announced as the "official winner" on southlandsoccer.com
... long story... and I can't really post the story here, but if you're curious,
email me, and I'll fill you in!

And, if you're so inclined, post a comment on the blog
and let me know what you think of the new site!
The best part about hiring a designer is that if you find any typos or glitches,
I can just send them to him, and POOF! They're fixed! WoO HOO!

Happy New Year!!

Merry Christmas! Part 1: "A Soldier's Silent Night" Dec 24th | filed in: News, What to wear

Merry Christmas everyone!

I hope you are having a wonderful Christmas and holiday season
surrounded by friends, family, love, and peace.

While you are enjoying your Christmas, please keep our brave warriors
in your thoughts and prayers. It's because of them that we can enjoy
our peaceful safe Christmas.

I hear this rendition of Mannheim Steamroller's "Silent Night" every year,
and every year it makes me stop & listen.
I found this slideshow on YouTube that enhances the message even more.

"May 'A Soldier's Silent Night' transcend any opinion about this war or any war,
and go deeper to foster an appreciation for the selfless sacrifice and courage
of The United States soldier and their families."

Merry Christmas!

~Carey
